PPE Ltd design, manufacture and market point of sale and merchandising equipment and called in fire prevention experts Fire Security to provide sprinkler protection to their new warehouse and store area within their existing building.

PPE Ltd’s 13,000m2 manufacturing site employs over 250 staff, from where they provide a unique one-stop facility for processes including injection moulding, vacuum forming, metalworking and screen-printing.

As the main warehouse contains polypropylene bin storage, Fire Security designed a solution that conforms to LPC Technical Bulletin 31 – necessary to cover the increased risk.

This was further enhanced by an automatic AFFF foam induction system fed from a 1,000-litre vertical foam bladder tank. Over 700 sprinkler heads are fed from duplicate valve sets covering the entire warehouse.

Following completion of the warehouse system we also upgraded the roof protection to high hazard within the existing stores area. This now provides a density of 12.5 mm/min and gives PPE the flexibility of racked storage without the necessity of in-rack protection whilst still conforming to all the relevant regulations.

PPE Ltd’s product range extends from simple ‘off-the-shelf’ leaflet dispensers to full in-store fixtures and custom-built display systems. UK clients include almost all the well-known high street shop names and main supermarkets.
